KOI CLUB NEWS
South East Koi Club
We finished the year with our December meeting, which
was held at the Bean Youth Community Centre, where
we all enjoyed a delicious buffet before going home to
celebrate Christmas.
Our first meeting of the year was held at the end of
January, when our speaker was Bernie Woollands, who,
with the aid of a Powerpoint presentation told us about
the 37th Kanto District Koi Show he judged in Japan
last year.
This Show was organised by six ZNA Chapters and
held in the grounds of the Tani Fish Farm just outside
the city of Chiba. Bernie explained that although there
were only 187 Koi entered, they were all of very high
quality. It was interesting how Bernie drew the parallels
between how we run our Koi Shows in the UK and how
so many things were the same.
Like us in the UK, the majority of Koi entered were
Gosanke and the Show Classes were mainly the same,
although the Sizes were in 5cm increments.
This year we are all looking forward to our All England
Young Koi Show on 11th and 12th May and of course
our All England Koi Show in September. In between we
will be attending Shows and will be holding our Auction
and having a pond visit to the Crouch Valley Section
who will return and visit us.
While on the subject of pond visits, we are keen to have
pond visits and return pond visits to other Koi Clubs
and BKKS Sections. If your Club is interested in
making arrangements, please contact Terry Wells,
our Trips Organiser, on 01883 713841.
