water through our bio-converter filter(s) to where we
don’t have any issues with readings. We have large Koi
and feed heavy late Summer, Autumn into early Winter
and don’t get any readings as we have experimented
with our variable pumps and have found our ‘sweet
spot’, now we know this ‘sweet spot’ we leave the
pumps at these settings. Once we reduce feeding to a
minimal amount in deep Winter, we then reduce our
Bakki Shower flowrate line, more so to conserve energy
and heat loss.
ADJUST THE So, after all that, it’s all about maintaining that ‘sweet
spot’ based on your bio, stocking levels, feeding
PUMP SPEED regime to where we have no nitrification readings and
TO FIND THE all you need to do is press that button to reduce or
increase the pump speed to achieve the desired
‘SWEET SPOT’ Turnover rate and Flowrate.
Last note – This last year I’ve had many discussions
with fellow hobbyists regarding issues they were having
around too much organic load and Nitrification issues.
Our answer has always been experiment with your
Turnover and Flowrate, which can be achieved if you
have a variable pump by more so upping the speed for
say a couple of weeks and monitor to see the
difference – it nearly always works!
