WORTHING KOI
CLUB WELCOMES
SOUTH EAST KOI
CLUB MEMBERS
Martin Devonport.

AT OUR where we were greeted by George and Olive at their
home in Brighton. Their pond has a capacity of 5,500
FIRST POND gallons and was oval, slightly raised and constructed
of concrete blocks then finished with fibreglass and
topped with bricks on edge.

pond and covered with decking. Above there was a
traditional Japanese style rail painted in red and black,
which made a comfortable place to lean on to view
their Koi.
George’s pond was built many years ago and had a
filtration system to match – but it works. Water is fed
from the bottom drains to a vortex, then through a
series of chambers which hold filter media of different
types, all this is aerated by 20 air stones. Water is
drained to waste using stand pipes, something many
