The South East Koi Club has always placed great importance on the health of
the Koi in the Show Ring. Our Centre Ring water management and hygiene
procedures were founded by Bernice Brewster Bsc, FLS, MIFM, CBiol, MIBiol,
who supervised our Show for many years.
They have stood the test of time well, but improvements can always be made,
and the South East Koi Club has never been slow to adopt or adapt to any
means of safeguarding Koi at our Shows.
We are running the well established procedures developed by David Edge Bsc,
PhD, who continues to develop our methods. Our current approach uses digital
photometers for accurate reading of ammonia and chlorine levels and the targeted
use of a combined ammonia/chlorine binder to ensure additional fish safety.
Our Bio-Security procedures now include the following:
● The use of FAM 30 as the disinfectant for all Benching Equipment.
● Splash Screens between each of the Show Vats.
● Colombo hand washes used by the Centre Ring staff before and after contact
● with any fish.

The water testing for our Show will be carried out using our Palintest 7100.
Testing at this year’s All England Koi Show will be done using the reagents
generously provided by Palintest. The photometers will give us highly accurate
monitoring of water quality parameters throughout the weekend.

All water for The All England Koi Show is dechlorinated using Colombo Fish
Protect and all water is tested by the supervisor before any changes take place.
