WORTHING &
DISTRICT KOI CLUB
POND/PHOTO
SHOW 2025
David Brown – Worthing & District Koi Club.
Worthing & District is a small Club. In previous
years we have failed to get sufficient members to enter
a Pond/Photo Show but this year we had 9 ponds enter,
so decided this was enough for us to have a fun event
for our members.
We were very lucky to secure the services of BKKS
judge Gary Hillier, who lives within the Club catchment
area.
Why did we call it a Pond/Photo Show? Unlike a Club
photographic Show, where the Koi are judged purely
OUR JUDGE from the photographs submitted by the entrant, our
judge visited each pond and the fish were assessed by
RECORDED HIS the judge in a bowl. The Koi were photographed but the
ASSESSMENT photographic record was purely an aide-memoire for
the judge and to create a presentation to members at
OF EACH FISH a subsequent Club meeting when the results were
AT THE TIME announced. Judging took place at the 9 different ponds
spread over two days. Our judge recorded his
OF JUDGING assessment of each fish at the time of judging. The
photograph of each fish was essential in the recall of
this information when he sat down to his final
deliberations.
The rules of the Show, which appear overleaf, were
written specifically for our purposes and reflect the fact
that most of our members do not actively show their
fish at open events. We chose our own size categories
to reflect the fact that most of our members do not have
jumbo fish. The size categories were intended to give
most entrants the chance to enter at least one fish in
each category.
