KOI CLUBS
Scottish Koi Club
The Scottish Koi Club is a growing Club that welcomes
Koi keepers of every level to its events and prides itself
on being interesting, informative and above all friendly.
It welcomes new members before they dig their ponds,
hopefully to benefit from the large pool of experience,
pardon the pun.
We hold monthly meetings with refreshments and a
raffle. The first meeting of the year is held on the second
Sunday of the month at 1pm in Mount Vernon with
speakers, problem solving, show and tell.
Once the covers come off, we adopt a more informal
style of meeting held at members’ houses and viewing
their ponds and filtration for a relaxing afternoon of
learning and a chat between friends.
Monthly newsletters go out either by post or email,
letting members know what is going on.
The last meeting of the year is held in church at Mount
Vernon in October. The Club ends the year in November
with a well supported informal friendly and enjoyable
dinner held in the Leapark Hotel in Grangemouth.
We offer a free special weekend day session for
newcomers to show basic Koi care, how to catch a Koi
safely, handle it correctly and check for problems. How
to sedate Koi before scraping for signs of parasites then
treating them. All supervised by one of the UK’s most
experienced Koi keepers.
The Club has a WhatsApp group where members can
obtain help for any problems with helpful advice, often
within minutes. To start moving in the right direction, the
forum is open for anything Koi and is a popular way for
members to both shortlist and exclude equipment and
techniques that others have tried in their Scottish ponds.
Our annual Koi Show weekend is always a special
occasion, all the members pull together to make sure
everyone including the public enjoy their visit to the Show.
