THE SOUTH OF
ENGLAND KOI
SHOW 2018
David Brown.
It was hot and the sun was shining as I made my way
down to Clapham and Patching Village, venue of The
South of England Koi and Craft Show. This is the 5th
Show and is presented by The South Downs Koi Club
who put on a professional and friendly Show. I know, as
I have been here before.
The Show is held in the grounds of the Village Hall
which itself is surrounded by the beautiful Sussex
countryside, perfect for a Koi Show. There was a total
of 24 Show vats set in a neat rectangle in the centre of
the Showground with marquees on three sides for the
raffle, retail sales, refreshments and a seating area.
There was plenty of car parking space which was free.
Kevin Paul receives the The Show had been judged the day before by Gary
Grand Champion Award.
Hillier, Christine Woolger, Stefan Malm and ably
assisted by new Trainee Judge, Jasmin Ryan, out for
the first time in her new capacity.
I mentioned before that this is a friendly Show, with
everyone working together, there were no outside
caterers, the food was prepared by the ladies in the
Club, and very good it was too.
It was good to see so many members from other Clubs
who had come along to give their support and enjoy the
Kevin Paul’s Maruboshi
Kohaku was purchased for Show. I met a guy I know from Colchester, Essex Koi
him by Deron of Select Keepers were there too, Pondy from Crouch Valley was
Nishikigoi as a Nisai of in the centre ring as usual, David Edge and Neil
around 50cm. This was the Hornshaw from the South East. But I’m sure there were
first Grand Champion in
Europe for Maruboshi and many more from other Clubs who came to enjoy the
the last as he retired last year. Show over the weekend.
