KOI SHOW 2018
Kevin Paul returns to take Grand Champion
at the National Show, for the second year
running, with his 92cm Maruyama Kohaku
Prior to the Show weekend, Show Chairman, Ian
Jenkins and Treasurer, Carmen Jenkins, planned and
made sure that every detail was all in place.
THE WEATHER The weather was good on the week running up to the
Show which allowed the Show team to erect 52 vats
WAS GOOD and set up the Show whilst enjoying the sunshine, and
when it came to Saturday, the Show opened, the

WAS SHINING The Show was well supported by BKKS Members,
ON THE WEEK non-members, Koi clubs and the BKKS Section clubs.

team, supporting chief water tester, Syd Mitchell, which

Koi to be seen in the U.K.
Many more attendees joined or renewed their BKKS
membership over the weekend and were given freebies
from the Koi dealers, and took advantage of a reduced
entrance fee.
As for the Show exhibitors, Kevin Paul returned to take
the Grand Champion Award for the second year
running with his Maruyama Kohaku, which had grown
from 86cm in 2017 to 92cm this year whilst still
retaining its high quality. In addition, Kevin’s vat
contained 3 Gosanke Koi over 90cm, including a 99cm
Koi, No-Yohei Sanke, which took the Jumbo Award.
This has never been achieved in the U.K. before!
The other big winner was Andrew and Penny Moorby
Kevin Paul’s Grand Champion with their 84cm Shiro Utsuri, which took the Reserve GC,
92cm Maruyama Kohaku. Best Non Gosanke and Mature Champion Awards.
