CHOOSING THE
RIGHT PUMP TO
SAVE YOU ENERGY
Sam Kleeblatt of Marinaqua pumps gives
details of his range of pumps for Koi ponds.
W ith everyone looking to save energy costs it is a
case of choosing the correct pump for moving water in
your Koi pond.
We have been in the aquatic business for many years
as importer and distributor and were one of the first
companies in Europe to import pond pumps, filters and
REDUCING other aquatic products from China more than 20 years
ago.
YOUR ENERGY Since then we have designed, developed and
COSTS IN manufactured our own range of pumps to achieve
maximum performance with low energy costs.
AND AROUND
Water pumps have motors that in most cases drive a
YOUR KOI wheel which moves the water in one direction. The
POND geometry of the wheel has a direct influence on the
characteristics of the flow in both volume and pressure.
There are 3 main types of wheels
used to move water
1 Propeller
This delivers a high flow rate at low pressure and can
optimally deliver a head of 20-30cm.
2 Mixed Flow (mix of 1+3)
As its name suggests, a mix of 1+3 good for a head of
around 1 metre for pumped drum filters and bakki
showers.
3 Vane Impeller
Vane impeller pumps produce a good pressure and a
reasonable flow at a cost, good for all applications, but
are not energy saving.
