THE NORTH
OF ENGLAND
KOI SHOW 2024
The North of England Koi Show took place
over the weekend of the 10th & 11th August.
Craig McNish.
This was my second year as Show Chairman,
although I have been involved in the running of
BY THE END previous Shows for our Club over the years, but with a
strong Show team behind me again I was confident
OF THE DAY that everything was going to be okay.
153 KOI Our Show took place on Saturday, 10th and Sunday,
HAD BEEN 11th of August at our usual venue, The Whitburn
Church of England Academy, Septimus Hall, Whitburn,
BENCHED Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. This venue has everything
you need for a Koi Show, with lots of natural light,
excellent facilities and ample free car parking – perfect
for a Koi Show. As usual we started planning the Show
early, but in reality we have held our Show so many
times before, everyone knew what to do.
In the days running up to the Show we were kept busy
making sure everything was in place. As our Show is
held in a hall with a polished floor, as previous years
plastic sheeting had to be laid down to ensure the
floor was protected before any vats could be erected.
We set up 30 vats with our trickle-in/trickle-out system
which we extended to include the Koi dealers. Another
Grand Champion feature to minimise water disruption for the viewing
78cm Kohaku owned by
Ged McElvaney. public we used our air bar system again.
Benching took place on Friday and by the end of
Photographs of the winners the day 153 Koi had been benched. This year a first
and the winning Koi,

World of Nishikigoi. to take part.
